47% Syrah, 20%Petit Verdot, 18% Cabernet Franc, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon
This syrah-based blend displays expansive aromas of black raspberry and blackberry fruit, layered with notes of white pepper, underbrush and hickory smoke. The palate exhibits plenty of dark berry fruit, with notes of vanilla and tobacco leaf. Rich, round and mouth-filling, the wine carries supple tannins that suggest early drinkability. The long, warm finish--carrying traces of candied cherry and nutmeg--is reminiscent of St. Joseph in the northern Rhone. A great choice for a dry-aged rib-eye or filet mignon (or any of your favorite cuts of beef).
74% Cabernet Franc, 13% Syrah, 11% Petit Verdot, 2% Cabernet Sauvignon
Scents redolent of strawberries and cranberries jump from the glass, followed by layers of black cherry, toasted vanilla damp earth and cigar wrapper. Lushness is the impression in the mouth, where a cornucopia of red and black fruits, along with a hint of licorice, linger before rolling into the supple, spice-tinged finish. Moderate tannins and good balancing acid make this baby a candidate for drinking in the near term (for time may test the will of those who wish to wait!) When you're ready, serve it alongside a roast rack of lamb.
